| Note | One nice specimen of Concholepas concholepas with its original operculum. This is the largest muricid species found in Chile, and one of the largest gastropods found in northern Chile. They are heavily extracted and their populations are diminishing, as it is an edible species with a large muscle. Usually their shells are very encrusted with encrusting calcareous algae and cirripedian communities, among many other epibionts. This specimen has a natural dorsum which can be cleaned to reveal the nice sculpture. The lip is almost perfect, having minimal damage, and overall is a nice specimen. This is your opportunity to have a nice specimen for the species, and an interesting natural history item.
