Item | # 0003839745 |
Family | Cypraeidae |
Name | Cypraea alfredensis - ‘IMMACULATA’ FORM , Schilder & Schilder, 1929 |
Size | 24.5 mm |
Locality | South Africa |
Note | This beautiful form of alfredensis, without the large, central dorsal maculation, and with greatly reduced flecks of darker colour, is sometimes referred to as ‘immaculata’, although the name has never been formally assigned to the species. Definitely for the advanced Cypraeidae specialist whose collection yet lacks this ‘immaculate’ form. Data: Jeffrey’s Bay, Eastern Cape, South Africa; upon reef substrate; 38 m; dived; 1996. Size: 24.5 mm. Grading: Fine+++. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
