| Note | F+/++. STUPELLA, GRACE AND TOP DESIGN COMBINED. Distinguished at once from the sister species stupa by the well defined design of equally spaced dark spots on the shell, the smaller shell, the more elegant shape and usually the better condition. And a multitude of other details. The present piece is beautiful, but suffered from crab attacks, the classic default of the species. It has the charms of the “Taiwanese stupella” which is heavier and slightly larger than most shells from the Philippines that are much rarer and in pristine condition in general. Estimation: Nice Philippine shells match 2000-3000 euro - if found and if in gem, which happens once every 6 years or so, and likely not more in the future. Nice Taiwanese shells in perfect quality will match 1500 to 2000 euro. This shell is beautiful, and can be shown from the dorsum and the ventral side, but on the outer lip are some growth defects. Nevertheless, a very valuable piece at a moderate price.
