Note | This spectacular specimen is of a rare and exceedingly beautiful form, somewhere between the nominate subspecies, A. damoni reticulata, and A. damoni ludbrookae / keatsiana. Ultra-rich, fully stable colour. Apertural lip very lightly smoothed, as always from the 1970s trawls. A favourite specimen from amongst the JES Collection Volutidae, now to be passed to another appreciator of rare forms, and truly equisite seashells. Data: Off Onslow, Pilbara Region, Western Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate; 40-60 m; trawled; 1979. Size: 104 mm. Grading: Fine+++. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
