NoteOne very rare specimen of Modiolus aurum, the rarest american shallow-water mytilid. This specimen was collected in 1980 at the remote Selkirk Island, the westernmost island in the Juan Fernandez Archipelago, off central Chile. This species was originally described from a batch of specimens found once, and there have been sparse records of this species during the subsequent years. This is your opportunity to obtain one of the rarest bivalves from a very remote and hard-to-reach island, from the Juan Fernández Archipelago offshore central Chile.
