| Note | Sublime and large murex shell with intact spire, siphonal canal and aperture lip. Wonderful tones of light brown and sienna complemented by intricate pin-stripping on the body whorls. The beauty of this large specimen are the elaborate striking erect structures branching into exceptional violet shaded incurved foliaceous processes. The impact o the combined spiraling elevated structures from the posterior view is impressive. Collected off Trincomalee, Sri Lanka on sand/rubble substrate by tangle/trap net at 20-25 meters in 7/2024. Minor wear of the protoconch and missing tips on a few rami. Grade: F+++. |
