F++. A CURIOUS CONE FROM BARNACLES. These animals are in strong currents at 20-25 meters and in the many dead Balanus, a wealth of species were sheltering and these are only known from that biotope: discovered amongst others, the Murex dodongi and the Conus barbieri. Fantastic helvola and poraria and many more. Once in a while, a fernandoi turned up. But by now the Balanus source is dried up for more than 25 years and the Conus barbieri as seen here turns only up from vintage stocks: big - 30 mm - broad - with a nice pattern, in fine condition because of micro-growth lines. This is the third biggest and the most beautiful one we got out of 178 pieces handled.
