Item | # 0003584026 |
Family | Patellidae |
Name | Lottia orbignyi - Very concave and deep , (Dall, 1909) |
Size | 20.8 mm |
Locality | Lirquén, Penco, Chile |
Note | One nice specimen of the limpet Lottia orbignyi. This species is rather common, and sometimes their shells are found washed ashore in rocky areas. This particular specimen is in very good condition for the southern form of the species, being live collected, and it has a nice dorsum with a dark pattern and a nice shiny brown interior of the shell, different from the bluish color in the northern Chile specimens. The dorsum has some erosion, hence the low price. |
