A LARGE and a SPECIAL COLOR shell. This is a larger Tutufa bubo already. In fact, the shell is so voluminous and big that a small photo as this one can not render the reality. But the very particularity of this specimen is not only the size, but also the condition and the well saturated coloration of orange-brown all over. Strong orange tinted mouth. A beautiful piece among the larger shells, for display in the cabinet. This species was known for years as “Bursa bubo” and is common along the East African coast. But seldom seen in the Philippines. The shells here are better colored than the African ones, but much rarer. Now in the genus Tutufa. The shell weighs 750 g.
Philippines. Masbate. 10-25 m. 2013.
