Note

One very nice specimen of Concholepas concholepas of about 104 mm in maximum dimensions. This is the largest muricid species found in Chile, and one of the largest gastropods found in northern Chile. They are heavily extracted and their populations are diminishing, as it is an edible species with a large muscle. Usually their shells are very encrusted with encrusting calcareous algae and cirripedian communities, among many other epibionts. This specimen is nice, but it has white encrustations (of the encrusting polychaete Romanchella), which can be cleaned to reveal the nice frills and sculpture. The lip is in good condition, with only a few chips, and overall is a very nice specimen. This is your opportunity to have a very nice specimen for the species for a low initial price.
