Angaria tyria - NORTHERN FORM / HYBRID? , (Reeve, 1842)
Size
45.7 mm, w/o
Locality
Exmouth Gulf, W.A.
Note
On offer here we have a HIGHLY UNUSAL form of the northern ranged Angaria tyria. The classic WHITE and PURPLE colours which are found on all shells of this species, are in full display here and along with some short spines around the centre whorl make for a beautiful shell. This specimen also has highly unusual RAISED NODULES around the outer whorl of the shell which may link it with A. delphinus or possibly A. carmencita. Fantastic condition with only a couple of small attempted worm holes on the outer-whorl being the only flaw i can see. Live taken on weedy, sandy reef at 8m. Exmouth Gulf, W.A. May 2024 *White marks are from camera reflection. Please ask about additional images*
