A NOT-SO-WELL-KNOWN CHAMA FROM FLORIDA. This name, which was created in 1943 by Bayer, an expert on Caribbean mussels, first appeared in popular literature in 2008 in the book by Paula Mikkelsen and RĂ¼diger Bieler. Better late than never in this case. If one compares the present shell with the 6 illustrations in the literature and the 10 specimens we have treated in the past: in beauty it is better than all of them. No new material since 2005. A very rare jewel from the Caribbean.
USA. Florida. Ocean Ridge. Scuba in 20 m. Depth, attached on the underside of a dead coral slab.
