The Exutus is a mud-dwelling xenophorid. The shells are therefore ultra-light and thin: they do not sink into the ground. The Exustus lives quite deep and when the nets are pulled up, the extensions are usually no longer perfect: often the shells are badly damaged. 95 % of the material known in collections comes from the Philippines. And 95 % of this material also comes from very great depths. The paper-thin lip has not been filed and is natural, with small chips. Much better than average, and a rarity as such.
Philippines. Cebu. Sogod. Tangle nets. 50-150 m. 2014.
