Family | Cypraeidae |
Name | Zoila marginata f. consueta - FRESH COLLECTED , Biraghi 1993 |
Size | 61.6 mm |
Locality | Mandurah, Western Australia |
Note | Dark dorsal mottled consueta accentuated by intense base and marginal spotting. The fresh collected, super-nacre glistening specimen, also displays significant marginal corrugation with pronounced tuberculation of the moderately flared margins on both extremities. Dark colored version of the subspecies with large coffee/brown colored well-defined dorsal maculae and high notable spotting as seen in images that embrace and climb the lateral walls. This consueta is a highly desirable example of the subspecies. Taken by scuba diver Jack Daly at 12-18 meters while feeding on a coral ledge nested Geodia sponge in 12/2023 off Mandurah, Western Australia. The Zoila presents with a few slight subnacre blemishes. Grade: GEM minus. |
