Note | Colorful and intricate linear longitudinal spotting characterize this distinctive volute. Shades of burnt/orange, cream, beige and camel brown primary shades highlight the wavy and symmetrical longitudinal spotting. A solid shell with a thick natural lip, high nacre body whorl gloss with a perfect spire and protoconch along with an ebony white aperture. The specimen was trawled at 80-100 meters in the Capricorn Channel, Queensland, Australia in 2009. The shell demonstrates palpable roughness on the anterior lip and notch. The specimen also shows dorsal growth folds and a shallow growth disruption on the ventral body whorl facing the aperture. Grade: F++/F+++. |
