Name | Umbilia armeniaca armeniaca - WESTRALICA , Vercoi 1912 |
Size | 79.6 mm |
Locality | GAB, Eucla, Western Australia |
Note | These specimens were previously describes as "westralica" and are no longer recognized as a subspecies variation. The is a wonderfully patterned example of armeniaca, with a striking dorsal blotch, superbly dark flesh/brown hued extremities and flawless apricot/peach colored base. Heavy shell, with a strongly curved aperture, moderate inflation and perfect siphons. The shell features a noticeable dorsal line, sparse lateral wall spotting and remarkable nacre gloss throughout. The specimen was trawled at 150-170 meters in the Great Australian Bight off Eucla, Western Australia in 2006. This is a fabulous shell that would be appreciated and welcome by the most fastidious of collectors. Grade: GEM |
