Note | Super and outstanding dorsal pattern highlight this exceptional specimen which is large in size for the Rottnest Island population. Moderately heavy shell with deep nacre shine, perfect dark tan extremities with produced posterior extremity with a concealed spire. Smooth rounded margins and beautiful cream and mild peach-toned hues circumscribe the base. Beautiful, heavy shell, demonstrating an inflated body, perfect base and extremities. The female shell was found grazing on a Sarcotragus (black) sponge on the side of a granite boulder at 45 meters off Canal Rocks, Western Australia in 2/2003. Peter Clarkson data slip included. The shell has a high gloss, small scratches on the columellar anterior ramp and a subnacre/glazed-over and smooth white algae growth mid-dorsum, as seen in the images. Grade: F+++. |
