Item | # 0003325897 | Family | Cypraeidae | Name | Talparia exusta - LARGE & HEAVY , Sowerby 1832 |
Size | 74.2 mm |
Locality | Suez Gulf, Egypt |
Note | Exquisite, unusually heavy and solid specimen from the Red Sea northern population. The exusta displays excellent nacre gloss, moderate inflation, perfect extremities and base. This specimen displays high dorsal profile with a beautiful wide tan/light brown color ramp draped across the entire mid-dorsum. In spite of its less than perfect condition, this is an impressive and remarkable specimen. The exusta was taken by snorkel diver from under dead coral at the base of a large reef in 10/2010 at 5-7 meters. The seashell was located and harvested in the Suez Gulf, Egypt. The shell has a small wobble and nacre scratch on the mid-anterior ramp and a self-repaired/re-glazed fish bite on the columellar anterior siphon. Grade: F++/F+++. |
