Note | Wonderfully patterned, beautifully glazed, thick margins with flawless siphons and elongate form underscore this highly collectible African cowrie. An extraordinary and morphologically impressive specimen with moderate weight. The shell features a black spot on the siphonal area, some intense lateral wall spotting and a perfect heavily glazed base. Taken by diver in 3-5 meters off Pointe des Almadies, Dakar, Senegal, West Africa. The Trona displays a dorsal 2mm pit (arrow) and smaller blemish on the anterior ramp. Grade: F+++. |
