Size | 46.47 mm |
Locality | West of Five Fathom Bank, W.A. |
Note | On offer here we have a VERY RARE form of marginata. This specimen comes from an isolated and rarely dived area on the western side of Five Fathom Bank which can produced some stunning marginata of which most are very small in size. Shells from this area vary from the deeper water shells typically found around Rottnest Island as they are less calloused around the margins and canals and will often have grey margins and concave bases similar to the shallow water populations from Carnac and Garden Island. This petite specimen is as BEAUTIFUL as they come! Its soft PINK DORSUM is covered with light brown spotting and a striking GREY MARGIN which makes for a HIGHLY ATTRACTIVE shell. Gem- grade which is mainly precautionary as it has PERFECT CANALS but only the very small growth wobbles that all marginata exhibit. Taken by very experienced professional diver Jon Daly inside a narrow sponge filled swimthrough in medium profile limestone reef at 28-32m. West of Five Fathom Bank, Off Fremantle W.A.
