Item | # 0003301260 | Family | Patellidae | Name | Trimusculus peruvianus - Rare , (G.B. Sowerby I, 1835) |
Size | 14 mm |
Locality | Caldera, northern Chile |
Note | One very nice specimen of Trimusculus peruvianus, collected from the center of a sea anemone, where it was most probably eaten. This limpet is quite uncommon and its shells are usually eroded or covered with tiny barnacles. This particular specimen is in excellent condition, it is slightly translucent, with a shiny interior and a dorsum with very nice radial sculpture, as can be seen in the images. A low price, due to its small size, for a rare species from northern Chile. |
