Item | # 0002944932 |
Family | POLIPLACOPHORA |
Name | Chiton barnesi , Gray, 1828 |
Size | 18.5 and 14 mm |
Locality | Caldera, northern Chile |
Note | Two very nice (F+) specimens of the very endemic chiton Chiton barnesi, collected under boulders N of Caldera, northern Chile. Chiton barnesi has a very restricted distribution along northern Chile, and it is very difficult to locate them due to their size (attaining maximum around 20 mm), their scarceness in their habitat, and because they have the same color of the rocks where they live. This is your opportunity to obtain a pair of very endemic and rare chitons from the southeastern Pacific, well preserved flat and with good data. |
