The current market value of almost every shell offered ranges from c.1,000 EUR to c.6,000 EUR, and, in keeping with the spirit in which the JES Collection is being sold, I am offering all in my usual manner, affording every collector the unique opportunity of being able to create their OWN price for any of these outstanding, unrepeatable shells. ------------------------------------------------------------ ZOILA MARGINATA ORIENTALIS: This famous, published, and incredible specimen - one of the rarest orientalis varieties of the JES Collection - is illustrated in ‘Visaya’; May 2007; p.63, pl.5, fig.8. The specimen is of the very rare Franklin Island form, and exhibits an extremely slender shell, with markedly attentuated extremities, rendering it almost an intermediate with the ultra-rare, ultra-expensive, deep-water gabensis form. Incredible dorsal pattern: multitudinous, evenly distributed maculae, arranged in a pattern of the highest aesthetic merit. A true, exquisite ‘bird’s egg’ of a Zoila. Franklin Island is one of the scattered off-shore islands off the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia, but one very seldom visited by divers during the now finished years of availability. Indeed, this is the ONLY Franklin Island specimen of the JES Collection, and, to my knowledge, also the BEST of the few known examples. A unique opportunity for a highly advanced Zoila specialist to acquire this famous, high-value, and exceptional orientalis. Size: 54.8 mm (length). Grading: Gem.
