Note | We are approaching the end of the magnificent giant specimens of the Apollo Bay form held within the JES Collection. Such specimens are no longer freshly available, and, once I have sold the few remaining, it is unlikely I will be able to offer such large and choice examples of this form again. The beautiful Apollo Bay form is characterised by a rich pinkish cream ground; dense pattern of highly angulate axial zigzags; and an ultra-clean shell, with no substrate discoloration. Virtual perfection, with nothing but typical micro-fraying to siphonal canal. PERFECT, fully mature outer apertural lip. Size: 176.4 mm (length). Grading: F++++. Data: Off Henty Reef, Apollo Bay, Victoria, Australia; upon sand/rubble substrate; 20-30 m; craypot; 1982. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
