Note | One of the most OUTSTANDING consueta of the JES Collection, and a personal favourite, this large and exceptionally beautiful specimen exhibits spectacular colour and pattern. Majority of dorsum covered with a profusion of coalescent, ultra-rich ginger-caramel maculae. Creamy cinnamon margins, with exceedingly well-formed, chocolate marginal maculae, upon which the shell material is deposited so thickly as to create palpably raised nodes - an exquisite aspect to the specimen. Exceedingly dark ventral maculae. In addition to its extraordinary colours, the specimen exhibits an elegance of shape and proportion present in few examples, in conjunction with exceedingly rare quality - PERFECTION: a seldom seen phenomenon in consueta. In a different league to the overwhelming mnajority of consueta offered. Truly a consueta for the connoisseur. Size: 61.8 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Off Carnac Island, Western Australia, Australia; upon limestone reef substrate, upon reef wall, upon sponge; 12 m; dived; 2002. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
