Note | A spectacular ultra-large specimen of an uncommon dark Western Australian colour form. Hypermature, as evidenced by the extremely dense deposition of shell material around the aperture, edged in yellow-caramel. Great weight to size ratio. Apex always lost during development. PERFECT outer apertural lip and elongate siphonal canal. Retention of original operculum. Size: 90.1 mm (length). Grading: F++++; w/o. Data: Off North-West Cape, Western Australia, Australia; upon sand/mud/reef substrate, under slab; 12 m; 1987. |
