Note | A magnificent large specimen of the supremely beautiful Queensland form. Completely different to typical examples from the Philippines and elsewhere, with a more subtle palette of cream, peach, pale orange and caramel, and with a striking bluish white accretion of nacre where the axial ribs meet the spire. PERFECT outer apertural lip and siphonal canal. Equidistant axial ribs. A product of the legendary 1980s trawls, and now obtainable only from choice old collections, such Queensland specimens have become highly sought after. Size: 61.6 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Off Lodestone Reef, off Townsville, Queensland, Australia; upon sand/rubble substrate; 6-10 m; dredged; 1986. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
