Note | A truly magnificent, ultra-large specimen of the ‘white’ form of this endemic north-western Australian species. 'White' specimens of this size, exhibiting such spectacular fronding, have always been much sought after 'collector's items'. Wildly branching fronds of supremely balanced asymmtery to striking aesthetic effect. Ultra-elongate siphonal canal. Ultra-large, fully glossed ceras intact. Beautiful rich pink-orange apertural interior. It is extremely difficult to obtain a specimen of such size and quality now, with examples coming only from choice old collections. I have now sold the majority of my ultra-large specimens, and can provide few more opportunitites for collectors to acquire such outstanding, monumental specimens. Size: 113.5 mm (length). Grading: F+++; w/o. Data: Off Karratha, Pilbara Region, Western Australia, Australia; upon mud/sand substrate, amongst mangrove roots at extreme seasonal low tide; 1980. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
