| Note | This Sinistral Neptunea bulbacea specimen comes from an unexpected surprise 15 years ago. At that time, a fishing boat had just returned from fishing in the Changhai County Archipelago (an archipelago very close to the North Korean waters, rich in Neptunea arithtica cumingii), and I was buying high-quality Neptunea arithtica cumingii from them on the dock. It was hidden in a pile of ordinary conch, because of its stunning appearance, I immediately found it. For many years afterwards, which species he belonged to has been haunting me , because it is not in the published list of yellow sea species, Until recently, after discussing with Mr. Lv Zhongliang (a well-known collector of cold water Buccinidea in China) and another Japanese Buccinidea collector, we determined that it is a rare Sinistral specimen of Neptunea bulbacea.It is the first known Sinistral specimen of this species and because of special locality.its appearance is different from other normal Neptunea bulbacea, its body shape is more slender and graceful.I never found a second specimen like this in the next fifteen years .Extremely precious specimen .Some nicks on lip.F++.Near North Korea.Trawled about 35-45m deep on sand and gravel bottom. |
