Item | # 0002542038 | Family | Cypraeidae | Name | Zoila marginata orientalis - KANGAROO IS. FORM , Raybaudi, 1985 |
Size | 54.8 mm |
Locality | Australia |
Note | An outstanding, and particularly beautiful specimen of the classic Kangaroo Island form. Dense, well-formed dorsal pattern, of particular beauty upon the columellar side: a striking combination of maculae and spiral dashes. Hypermature, with thick, crenulated margins. With the impossibility of obtaining fresh specimens now for almost two deacdes, the demand for such shells upon the world market is higher than ever, especially with most collectors being unwilling to release high quality specimens, and with each example sold from the JES Collection, the possibilty of my offering further specimens diminishes, along with the opportunity for collectors to acquire this classic form. Size: 54.8 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Off West of Penneshaw breakwater, North-East coast of Kangaroo Island, South Australia, Australia; upon slate reef substrate, upon red sponge; 22 m; dived; 2002. Provenance: JES private collection, Melbourne/London. |
