| Note | We are working our way through my extensive holdings of magnificent Zoila from the private collection of Peter Clarkson, (author of ‘Australia’s Spectacular Cowries’), with this truly outstanding specimen, from an uncommon locality. The original, hand-written Clarkson label accompanies the specimen. In addition to its Clarkson provenance, this is one of the BEST southern rosselli I have ever seen, exhibiting an atypical elegance and splendour reminiscent of an Abrolhos example. Its graceful form is enhanced by an exceedingly well-formed, broad mantle line in honey-gold. Ultra-dark colour throughout. Hypermature: ultra-solid, with heavily flanged margins, and great weight to size ratio. One of the finest rosselli of the Clarkson and JES Collections, now to be passed to another Zoila connoisseur. Size: 52.5 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Off 10.6 km West-North-West of Hillarys, Western Australia, Australia; upon 2.5 m tall silty limestone reef substrate, amongst algae and sponges; 35 m; dived; 15 September 2003. Provenance: 1.
