Note | NOTE: I am taking time off this month, and consequently offer only a few lots in this sale. It takes an enormous amount of time to prepare my usual monthly number of shells, especially the outstanding Zoila and other high-end specimens from the JES Collection. We will return next month to my usual offerings of numerous exceptional, rare, and unique specimens. AUSTROHARPA PUNCTATA: An outstanding, ultra-large specimen of this rare, now extremely difficult to obtain, much coveted, ‘classic’, endemic southern Australian species. Ultra-rich peach-pink-orange, with an abundance of tiny, pointillistic, evenly distributed flecks of caramel. Exceptional quality, with all ultra-delicate axial folds intact. A punctata for the connoisseur. Size: 34 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Thorny Passage, Port Lincoln, Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, Australia; upon sand/gravel substrate, at night; 26 m; dived; 1994. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
