Note | A magnificent specimen of the rare and seldom offered South Australian form of this endemic southern Australian species. An altogether different shell to the Victorian form, the South Australian form exhibits exquisite pale peach-apricot, decorated with spiral flecks of white, and with caramel accents. Ultra-fine, jewel-like external surface sculpture readily discernible. An opportunity for a Ranellidae specialist to acquire this rare and no longer available form. NOTE: I also offer a specimen of the Victorian form in this sale for direct comparison. Size: 36.6 mm (length). Grading: Gem; w/o. Data: Off Taylor Island, Yorke Peninsula, South Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate; 20-30 m; dived; 1990. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
