Note | An exceptional specimen of a short-fronded variety of the deep-water, New South Wales form of this endemic eastern Australian species. Exemplary preservation of all varical spines and flanges, and of elongate principal siphonal canal. Mammillate protoconch intact. Fresh specimens no longer available, as the region whence the species comes is now protected under the Solitary Islands Marine Park. For the Muricidae specialist. Size: 35 mm (length). Grading: Gem; w/o. Data: Off Coffs Harbour, Mid North Coast, New South Wales, Australia; upon sand substrate; 30-70 m; trawled; 1986. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
