Note | An extremely rare colour and pattern variety of the angasi form, from a rare locality. Atypically sparse undulating axial lines, traversing a pinkish white ground. Fully mature, recurved and glossed outer apertural lip, with the interesting and unusual feature of yellow glaze to outer periphery. PERFECT siphonal canal extension. The ONLY specimen I have ever handled of this form. Now obtainable only from choice old collections. For the Volutidae specialist interested in rare pattern variations. Size: 60.7 mm (length). Grading: F++++. Data: Proper Bay, Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate; 16 m; dived; 1999. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
