Note | 165mm. Very nice and colorful rare endemic shell from hard to access location. Some periostracum is still remaining on shell. Lip is perfect. Black color lines and and dots on shell are natural. There is non visible pin hole on the top of back of shell visible with magnification on first photo as little black dot. Otherwise shell is GEM. By Washington state University report : "The species was thought to have gone extinct after 1986, but was rediscovered in July 2015". Telegraph.co.uk. 28 August 2015 : "the allonautilus scrobiculatus has inhabited the earth for 500 million years and has only been seen twice, until now" |
