Note | This is one of five specimens collected in a central location between the eludens grounds off Muiron Island and the delicatura grounds off Peak Island. These specimens have been briefly discussed by Felix Lorenz in his new "Cowries" book, Vol.1, Page 324 under the discussion section of eludens delicatura. They were taken by ROV whilst looking for the eludens stricklandi. They commenced operations well south west of Peak Island having steamed out of Exmouth Gulf and outside the top end of the Muiron Island when they come across these intermediate specimens. As Felix mentioned, like this specimen they have a light orange/straw colour interior when fresh, whilst eludens have a predominantly cream interior and the delicatura a purple interior. These specimens were not found on the eludens grounds and not found on the known delicatura grounds, hence my reason for using the INTERMEDIATE description. This specimen with the others was collected by ROV in 45M. between Muiron Island and Peak Island. This specimen is Graded FINE+++ with a tiny silt pimple on the anterior canal saddle and some tiny nacre windows on the labral side of the posterior canal. ALL THE WHITE REFECTIONS ARE FROM THE CAMERA LIGHTING. |
