Item | # 0002335879 | Family | Cassidae | Name | Cassis fimbriata - LARGE GREY SPECIMEN , RARE, IMPRESSIVE SIZE. |
Size | 120.8 mm, w/o |
Locality | Thorny Passage, Pt Lincoln, S.A. |
Note | This is truly a LARGE specimen for the specie. As well as its size, it exhibits a wonderful perfect basal shield and a superb dorsum grey in colour. With no erosion and beautiful pattern it is a wonderful live taken LARGE specimen with its operculum. It has a growth crease on the dorsum, typical of such large specimens. Diver collected by Tony Kingdon, the last licensed diver in South Australia before the Fisheries closure. Collected in 20M of water, buried in sand near Taylor Island in the Thorny Passage, in 2010. As year states, from an old collection and rarely offered this size today. Makes a wonderful partner to the LARGE burgundy/brown coloured specimen available on this auction. |
