Item | # 0002320607 | Family | Volutidae | Name | Nannamoria guntheri - PALE COLOURED SPECIMEN , HIGH QUALITY. (Smith, E.A.,1886) |
Size | 41.4 mm |
Locality | Esperance, S.W. Australia. |
Note | I believe this specimen has always been pale in colour. From an old collection I acquired and my first impressions that it was dead taken. My second thoughts were that this specimen shows no deterioration other than colour and my experience says that the time taken for this specimen to fade to this colour there would be other tell tale signs, like lustre loss, erosion, milking or coraline growth. None of these are evident, so on the conservative side I present this specimen as fresh dead, but still believe it would have to be long dead for this pale colour to form. "My apinion". Diver collected at night in 25M off Esperance, S.W. Australia. |
