Note | 105.7mm, Ceduna, South Australia., With the advent of the new trawl net escape openings in the Great Australian Bight Trawler Fishery, designed to reduce the by-catch, few cowries are collected today. In particular is the large specimens of Umbilia armeniaca which are rarely offered today. Here I have a high quality, LARGE, specimen at 105.7mm with a dorsal depression grading the specimen at FINE+++/GEM-. IMAGES SAY IT ALL. A specimen that exhibits a super vivid orange colour with very attractive dorsal markings. A wonderfully mature, heavy specimen with a white base with soft yellow to orange colouring. Trawled in 120M, off Ceduna, South Australia. A lovely specimen for all collections. ALL WHITE REFECTIONS ARE FROM THE CAMERA LIGHTING. |
