| Note | EXCEPTIONAL JES PRIVATE COLLECTION SPECIMEN: An exceptional specimen from my private collection, representing a rare opportunity to create your own price for an extremely high-value shell. GODFREYNA TORRI: There are only a handful of enormous, male specimens of this rare, highly coveted southern Australian species of this level of colour and quality in the world. To my knowledge, all of these reside in very private Australian collections, and all were collected by the late Peter Clarkson, (author of ‘Australia’s Spectacular Cowries’). Even amongst such illustrious examples, the current specimen stands out. The personal favourite specimen of Clarkson, and a treasured shell from my private collection, this is one of the finest known examples, and, in all probability, the very finest, as I have seen or sold the majority of the 'top of the line' male specimens. Ultra-rich, indescribable and exceptionally beautiful live-collected colour. Absolute perfection. Fully mature, thickened, recurved and glossed outer apertural lip and siphonal canal. Virtually impossible to obtain like this, as such specimens are almost never released from the few select Australian collections within which they reside. Very rarely do I urge acquisition, but, where this species is concerned, should one desire what is quite probably the finest example in the world, with the original Clarkson hand-written label accompanying the specimen, this is the shell to purchase. Size: 65.2 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Off Cape le Grand, Esperance, Western Australia, Australia; upon mud/sand substrate, upon low, sandy limestone reef, amongst red algae and sponges; 35 m; dived; 2004. Provenance: 1.
