Note | The BEST specimen I have ever handled of this singular, cold-water, extreme deep-water species. Exceptional state of preservation, with bulbous porotoconch intact, and extremely rare PERFECT outer apertural lip, almost always suffering from trawl damage. Partially cleaned, revealing the full beauty of the shell, (and could be completely cleaned if desired). Very rare at this size and quality. Size: 111 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Off Samani, Kidaka District, Hokkaido, Japan; upon mud/sand/rubble substrate; 200-400 m; trawled; 1992. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
