Note | This enormous and fabulous specimen, from the famous Israelite Bay population, was collected by the late Peter Clarkson, (author of ‘Australia’s Spectacular Cowries’), and the original hand-written Clarkson label accompanies the specimen. Dorsum with dark tan maculae across a green-blue and tan ground. Rich blackish chestnut ventrum. Marked ventral callosity. Greatly attenuated, recurved terminals. A little restricted nacre frosting to ventrum, typical of this population. An outstanding Clarkson specimen of this now extremely difficult to obtain and sought after ultra-large form. Size: 95.4 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Off Point Lorenzen, Israelite Bay, Western Australia, Australia; upon granite reef substrate, upon 20 cm high dome shaped sponge, upon granite ridge; 4.5 m; dived; 3 May 2005. Provenance: 1.
