AMORIA GUTTATA: An extremely large and superb specimen of this endemic, deep-water Queensland species. Rare quality, with nothing but the most inconsequential growth disruption to an early whorl, otherwise perfection. Exceptional pattern. Ultra-rich colour. Collected during the legendary 1980s Queensland trawls, and now obtainable only from old collections. It is exceedingly difficult to obtain a guttata of this size and quality. Size: 55.8 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Off Lodestone Reef, Townsville, Queensland, Australia; upon sand substrate; 100-150 m; trawled; 1984. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
