NameZoila jeaniana - GIANT , Cate, 1968
Size102.1 mm
LocalityGeraldton, WA
NoteHere is probably the most impressive of all zoila jeaniana in existence. It measures a giant 102.1mm on a digital caliper. The only thing keeping it from being gem is that it has a micro flake at the anterior terminal, but I must mention it. I am at a point in my life where I am considering parting with some of my ultra top specimen shells collected over 40 years. Zoila are a family that are highly collectible and with all the restrictions on collecting, these impressive cowries will only go up in value. As I mentioned before, this is likely the greatest zoila I have ever handled or personally seen. I have had it looked at my a few cowrie experts and they agree that it has unusual features, possibly even a hybrid with thalamega, due to its slightly elongate appearance. This shell can be appreciated by all and will ultimately end up in the collection of someone who wants the best and one of the biggest for their collection. There are known shells in collections that are named shells, such as the Black Witch, the White Lady, the King, the Queen, the Stingray and so forth. This shell rivals any of the greatest of great shells, named THE EMPEROR! A super impressive, imposing, hyper mature, crisp pattern, balanced, aesthetically pleasing work of nature! It was trawled from 20 fathoms off of Geraldton according to the data tag. Oh, did I mention that this shell has a provenance of being owned by the world famous actor, Raymond Burr? I acquired this shell after his passing when the estate liquidated a small portion of his collection. I was very fortunate to be able to acquire it and it has since gone up in value. The price is correct and priced according to the extreme rarity, size, provenance. I am offering free express shipping to the winner and may even travel to deliver it in person at the next international shell show. Additional images available upon request. All sales are final, thank you! Good luck to all!
