AMORIA UNDULATA: Six high quality specimens from my collection of undulata variants, illustrating six different forms, from six different localities, are offered in this sale. Specimen 1: An outstanding specimen of a truly rare form: PURE WHITE 'leucostoma' apertural interior, (extremely rare in undulata), and an ivory ground, traversed by undulating axial lines of reddish tan. Perfect, fully mature, thickened, ‘rolled’ and glossed outer apertural lip. An exquisite and extremely rare form for the advanced Volutidae specialist. Size: 79 mm (length). Grading: F++++. Data: Off King Island, New Year Group, Tasmania, Australia; upon sand substrate; 40-60 m; trawled; 1984. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
