SEMICASSIS THOMSONI: One of the BEST specimens of this endemic north-eastern Australian species I have ever handled, exhibiting particularly beautiful colour: ultra-rich pink with accents of tan. Superb pattern. Big size. High spire. Fully mature, thickened and glossed outer apertural lip and columellar shield. Typical extremely minor trawl fraying to siphonal canal, otherwise perfection. Size: 67.5 mm (length). Grading: F++++. Data: Capricorn Channel, Queensland, Australia; upon sand substrate; 60-120 m; trawled; 1983. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
