Note | SPECIAL SALE - PART 8: Part eight of my current special sales comprised entirely of exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing highlights of my collecting and dealing career. Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. AMORIA EXOPTANDA: Many standard specimens of this beautiful endemic southern Australian species were collected in the past, but few exhibit the combination of size and quality as the current example. Now obtainable only from old old collections. Superb pattern of dense, reddish chestnut triangular markings. Hypermature, with greatly thickened, 'rolled' outer apertural lip. Size: 102.6 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Thorny Passage, off Port Lincoln, Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, Australia; upon coarse sand/rubble substrate, at night; 20 m; dived; 1993. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
