Note | EXTRA SPECIAL SALE - PART 7: Part seven of my current extra special sales comprised entirely of exceptional specimens from my private collection, representing highlights of my collecting and dealing career. Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. THALOTIA SP.: Resembling Thalotia chlorostoma, (and may represent a form of that species), the current specimen has a far lower spire, and less acute apical angle, resulting in a more equilateral, as opposed to isoscelean outline in lateral profile. Spectacular ventral colours: crimson flames across a salmon pink ground, with yellow-green outer apertural lip and opalescent apertural interior. Size: 18.1 mm (longest dimnension). Grading: F++++. Data: Corny Point, South Australia, Australia; upon reef substrate amongst seagrass and algae; 2-3 m; dived; 1991. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
