Note | As you can see from the images, this specimen of thersites is particularly narrow. This specimen has reached this size due to some mild but noticeable ROSTRATION. Both canals are quite well extended and the base edges of the anterior canal is significantly grown down below the base of the shell (see labral side profile image) making the anterior end of the base quite convex, as with most rostrate cypraea. ROSTRATION is particularly RARE in Zoila. Graded Gem- with the slightest of a growth step that you feel, not see, so irrelevant in my view. Diver collected on sponge amongst seagrass in 5M, off Stansbury, South Australia. |
